Cooking Method
Step 1: Make the Curry
Heat 1 cup oil in a large pot.
Add the sliced onion and fry until it becomes golden brown.
Add ginger paste and garlic paste and cook for 1 minute.
Now add the chopped tomatoes and cook until they become soft.
Add coriander powder, red chili flakes, whole garam masala, cumin, ½ teaspoon turmeric, and salt. Mix well.
Pour in 2 liters of water and add the beef.
Cover the pot and cook on medium heat for about 45 minutes, or until the beef becomes soft.
Step 2: Shred the Beef
When the beef is cooked, take it out of the curry.
Shred the beef into small pieces using forks or your hands.
Keep it aside.
Step 3: Cook Rice and Mung Beans
In the same curry, add the mung beans and rice.
Mix gently and cover the pot.
Cook for about 10 minutes on medium heat until the rice and beans are soft and absorb the flavor.
Step 4: Add the Beef
Add the shredded beef back into the rice.
Mix gently so everything combines well.
Step 5: Prepare the Tadka
Heat 2–3 tablespoons oil in a small pan.
Add ½ teaspoon turmeric and cook for a few seconds until it smells nice.
Pour this tadka oil over the rice.
Step 6: Serve
Serve hot with raita or fresh salad.
This Charsadda style Mota Chawal has soft beef, flavorful rice, and delicious spices.
